Who is your target audience? Get the customers you want
If I tell you who your audience is to ask what would you say?
Men? Women? Teenagers? The people in your city? Or the standard “Everyone”?
This is what I most of the time when I ask someone for this question. They say that everyone has their wares. That their service is something that everybody would have a pulse, and should purchase.
This may be true, but how many people want your product or service? Just because you know they need it, they know they need it? Do they care enough to believe they need?
This is one of the main reasons why most businesses fail. You do not know who their main target customers. They practice site “spray and pray” marketing, where they just throw a bunch of stuff in the marketing world, and then see what works.
As an entrepreneur, you must navigate to a specific person to target customers. Let’s re-phrase a bit … Your “Perfect” customers.
That you want to focus on themselves.
Look at your current client list and see who has the best customers. Concentrate on them. What industry are they? What are your hobbies? And above all … Where to find more of them!
Once you define to know who your ideal client, you need to find many of these customers. Where they come hang? Which magazines do they read? Do they have family? How old are they in range? What do they spend the most time?
Once you find that you can focus your marketing and promotion on these sites. You can use it with the message that will appeal to them to go somewhere, they will see.
I just cringe every time I contractor, excitedly, as she had a lot of publicity in a new publication as a newspaper or magazine, is the question. I wonder who are the demographics of the magazine and we find that the chances of their clients that the publication of the perfect reading is very thin.
Remember, this way you advertise in the rock club in the last minor, if your products and services for the Senior Community irritated? Of course not! It makes no sense. But I see all the time.
If you’re in business to business sales it makes sense to advertise in the local newspaper? Doubtful. You may find that about 1% of readers either the owners of a company or at least in the position of buying a business. Simply because the document has been distributed to 100,000 people, you get a lot, does no better. They speak of wasted money to the wrong person.
This is why it is so important is it to find your target audience … Your perfect client.
So who is your ideal customer?
